My daughter's friend asked her to join the family on a trip to the Pocono's. I spoke to the mother last night and she said everything was inclusive and that my daughter would only need money to go shopping with. I was fine with that but now they are telling me something else!!

They came over and picked up myu daughter a short time ago, but they aren't leaving until Sat morning. I just got a phone call from my daughter that she needs $75-$100 to go on the snow-tubbing (which was supposed to be included)!!! I told her I will pick her up from her friend's house tomorrow after work because I don't have that money to spend. Now my daughter is mad at ME!!!!

depending on how long it is......$75 could be what you'll save on food by not having her around:)

Explain to your daughter that the other parents told you
all exspenses were paid...and that you can't afford it.

And Hun that sounds awful steep a price for that???
Maybe someone is trying to get money off your daughter???

Sounds like a little misunderstanding, hope the friendship survives. Your daughter will get over it.

tell them you have $50 bucks and thats it. See what they say. I do agree that it is steep, but if they are feeding her and everything else....you are getting a fair price for a couple days off.

find a way to get the 75 dollars ..this will probably be a trip she'll never forget and if you cant get the money let her go any way im sure she's been looking forward to it ..maybe you could borrow the money or if you have to pawn something its for your kid ..or get a pay day advance theres got to be a way im sure if you think about it you'll find a way ..good luck

Just explain to her that if she wants to still go, she can't do that part of it. IF your daughter is anything like my son, she will understand that you just don't have that kind of money!
If I was you, I would call and talk to her friends parents. Maybe you should have done that in the first place? This is why I don't allow my kids to go anywhere with anyone else. IF we go on vacation...we go together...this way, I know exactly what I can afford and what I can't afford!!!

I have no way to get any of that money.....even if I did have it, I would need it for bills. She had the money last night but used it to buy a camera. I am living pay-check to pay-check and borrowing money from my parents for some bills.

Well if she had the money last night and used it to buy a camera, then let her still go on the trip BUT she just can't do this part of it!! Either that or take the camera back!! You can not always have everything you want!!
I understand that you don't have the money. I do believe that sometimes we just give our children to much. Make her decide what to do...keep the camera OR skip this part of the trip!! Sounds pretty logical to me!!

Eileen, that's so awful! But, I'm sure your daughter knows what the deal is. She'll get over being mad. That's a lot of money for tubing, too. We go there, well not the Poconos but close, and it's usually only about $15/person. I think it's terrible that the parents told you one thing and are now going back on it. When I invite my son's friends, I pay for everything.

Sweetie if you spoke to the parents last night...I would be calling them back tonight and asking them whats going on!! Tell them exactly what your daughter is telling you now!! I would be on that phone and trying to figure this one out and IF their daughter is trying to get money off of you, atleast her parents will find out what she is doing!!!

Her mom isn't answering her phone, she is at work.

I would keep trying her until I got her. I would try to figure out what I could do so my child could go, I wouldn't want to disappoint her!!!

She just wants to go so she can hang out with this girl, but my daughter hates snow and the cold so she would go down once and then go sit inside the villa.

We don't live to far from there, and I know people who live in the area, so if she wants to go, we will go visiting them. I know it seems like I am being, unreasonable but this is just out of the question, asking for money after telling me everything was included.

maybe the young lady doesn't realize that her mother planned to cover everything.

i'd wait until i spoke with the mother before i would make any decisions.
