I respect the right everyone has to voice his/her opinion as well. What I do not understand is not sticking around to hear the response or opinions of others, ESPECIALLY when a question is posed. A simple acknowledgement would suffice. But hey..........as was previously mentioned........it takes all kinds........ I can dig it....... (do they still say that?!) |

I rather my food come out of the woods than a grocery store. I love deer meat, but I do not care for rabbit. I always make BBQ out of the rabbits. Here in the south east it depends on where you live if the deer are over populated. But the late freeze and drought have made it so that upto 30% of the deer may starve this year. I fed the deer on my dad's farm real well this year. I planted 5 pounds of pea seed and water them so the deer would hopefully make it through winter healthy. In return they feed me as I take a few of them every year. There is a massive buck there. He is atleast a 8 point as he was still in velvet when I counted through the scope of the rifle(keep it behind the seet of the truck). I shot a fawn last year that got hit by the bush hog last July. As small as it was it was not wasted. Quail are one of my favorites. The only people I can see that have a real arguement to hunting are the vegatarians. But then they still do not want bears, wolves, ect reintroduced to control the population. Bears are very destructive to homes and such to get at food or just the smell where food had been. |

im not a vegetarian..i eat meat..not alot of red i must say, mostly chicken and fish.all i asked was what made people kill animals? she headed the forum `i shot a reindeer`!! which in my eyes was bragging about killing an animal.then when i made a comment she turned it around about spending quality time with her dad!!i have my opinion like every ones else does...it doesnt give them the rite to attack someone that speaks up. think its very rude and bad manners to be honest .anyway you can argue or brag between yourselves coz im not interested in this conversation..so ill leave it to you guys.

Sorry, I am just now getting back to this interesting debate...I do have a life outside this computer, you know, cooking veggies, baking cakes, running a family, and planting rose gardens and all, BUT, so glad Jen's back.
If you will glance back to the ORIGINAL post...it was all about spending time with my dad, and the topic name was just that...a topic name/eye catcher...and it served its purpose. |

To be quite honest, I wasn't hunting solo, or in a pack. Sorry you feel like prey.
To show you I mean no harm: here's a toast to those men and women who killed your last meal for you, and to those who will kill your next one for you! (That only makes you an accompliss, not the REAL bad guy...) |

Jenny, I have no problem with you not killing animals personally and you have a right to voice your opinion on it. My point is that we aren't just going out to kill it for the pure enjoyment of it and leaving it lay-we eat it and it is better than any nasty ass meat that has been chemically injected with lord knows what...enjoy your fish and chicken and we will enjoy hunting...check out my pics.....!!!! LOL By the way having venison tonight and will enjoy it.....

I made a comment on the topic that became of this thread and ouch. I have no problem with those that do not want to hunt or eat meat. Meat from the super markets are a mess. God(or mother nature for those who do not beleave in him) intented a chicken to take 5-8 months to get to fryer size(slaughter size) as I grow them on the farm(got to get some more thanks to the coons getting into the cage). Tyson grows them off in 6 weeks from hatch to slaughter. Tyson can say they do not give their chickens steroids because they inject the chick while it is in the egg 24 hours before it hatches. Cattle are made to eat grass not grain. Over feeding grain to cattle causes ulcers and other severe problems for the cattle. This means that the cattle must be fed meds to over come these problems. On the farm when I put a calf up to slaughter it gets 1/2 gallon of corn 2 times a day and all the hay it can eat. All the food grown here is safe to eat as I only put in its mouth what god intended it to eat. All my veggies are grown without pesticides. I do use chemical fertilizers(made chemically vs organic). But nothing touches my farm that will harm me. Same with my food animals. |

Single mother of two little girls. I got my Elk over Thanksgiving and my deer over Christmas! I would not be able to supply a years worth of meat from the grocery store. Game is also much better for you. I actually do not enjoy hunting AT ALL....although I don't have anything against it! It is simply a way for me to fill my freezer and feed my kids healthy food!
