Is it me, or do a lot of kidnapping plot movies usually involve mostly girls?

Are they done that way to reflect reality, or are they (movie industry people)afraid that consumers may not appreciate the idea that they might have to believe that they have to "especially" protect both gendered children of theirs?

hehe, gaw, do I sound like a feminazi?lol.

oh.
Well, I feel as though i need to make a new point (free country, right?)
A lot of movies coming out now seem to be all about victimizing women...
Especially "missed call"

It seems like not only in the real world women are victimized but in movies they have to be tormented by the supernatural,*shrug*

well some movie franchises has centered women as the hero. nightmare on elm street for instance, the woman is always the hero, all the guys die.

Nightmare on elm street?
hmm..I never noticed that,, I guess I will have to check back with you.

I spose the herione(sp?)/victim ratio of hollywood might be balanced after all.lol.

80s Horror/slasher movies were super creepy and so wrong.

I liked Poltergiest though....it wasnt great, but it was something, lol

well i doubt it's equal but it's not so one sided either. women are often the victim being rescued by the man, but lately i think thats starting to change. i think we're beginning to see a lot more women in the hero roles. i'd say these days it's probably like 60/40 or so.

It just seems off sided with all these "sexialized torture films" I probably shouldnt talk though cause I've never seen them, i dont think i want to though.lol.

Like those quintin terantino films and such, and not to mention whatever the director of "Saw" (i know he is asian and australian, lol)

I think the only modern horror movie that didnt have any seemingly particular violence towards women was "dead silence"
it was old school ish, and from the same director of "Saw"

it's deffinitly off sided, but it's getting less and less so. not like the 50's and 60's where the man was ALWAYS the hero and woman was ALWAYS helpless.

true, but cant writers be creative enough to make a gender neutral horror film?

Like, for instance, "The Mummy" & "the Mummy returns" and "the mtrix" trilogy.

The two main characters were a couple and they both took turns saving eachother.

Or does that sound too mushy?

thanks duckiegiggles, i was not aware.

but with all these examples it seems like a lot of the boy kidnapping flicks were only written before 1995

The movie "Red Eye" has a female hero and the big fight at the end makes me want to never get that woman mad EVER lol. I do agree that movies like Saw and Hostel are pretty much torcher(sp?) porn and I refuse to watch them because I can't handle that type of thing (the rape scene at the start of "hills have eyes" made me walk out of the theater). I know its just a movie, but it attacks my senses and I don't like it. When shows like "Cold Case Files" comes on and it has audio evidence of a guy torchering the woman before he kills her made me punch the T.V. screen once and I ended up with stitches in my hand O_O.

I think I made myself sound too emotional over things, but ohwell, ya'll knew that much about me laugh
