We rang it this year. Yep. We did. As a family - took a two hour shift and did it relay style.

Ya know it was one of the best experiences I've had at Christmas. We always try to take on projects and love a lot of them. Especially the shoe boxes we do for Operation Christmas Child every year.

But this is 'in your face' gotta be 'happy' kinda project. And it truly rubs off on you.

Are we gonna do it next year? You bet your Santa's sleigh we are .. and we are gonna bring Christmas carols or just sing em ourselves. (tried to get them to do that this year ... it takes working up to HA HA HAlaugh )

Anyone else ever done it? or wanted to? or wondered about it?

We make a point of never passing one without contributing whatever we have (or SOME of it .. ha ha ha)

but I've never been the ringer before. It's really cool. smokin And all my kids decided we HAD to go back next year!

Don't they pay you to ring?

Nope .. they are trying to get past that so the $$ people give goes more to the needy.

We volunteered - as did boatloads of people from where I work.

Salvation Army is the ONLY national charity I give to...... four donations this year, and no coins. I prefer them because the head of the organization doesn't make a very large salary, compared to the huge salaries they make at United Way, and all the others.

I totally love this thread....This to me is what the season is all about......Way to go Judy and Family. I did Santa For A Senior....Where you buy goodies that they want...Then go and delilver them to the Old Folks home and spend time with them. Also did over 600 boxes for Operation Christmas Child...and went down to the distribution center and helped out there. Also collected more then 20,000 for needy families in our community.

Show off! We only did 4 OCC boxes .. but that's just our family. We do that project every year. The kids love to fill the shoeboxes w/stuff for needy kids.

We took on a project for special needs folks at church too. Got them worship cd's and stuff. My 15 yr old daughter took it upon herself & with her own $$ and bought a low-income kid a lot of art supplies. SOOOOOOOOOOO cool.

I love that.....I had every person in the congregation do a box....every man, woman, and child,......The kids loved it. They even wanted to give up their Christmas Presents and give them to the needy.....And the kids even prayed about it....to cutiful......And I didn't even mention everything. (hides face) giggle giggle.....Its so much better to give then to receive...

Yes where I work we have around 1000 staff who do a box.

I actually escorted our boxes to DIA a few years ago .. and met Franklin Graham (Dr. Billy Graham's son) who runs the Operation Christmas Child program thru Samaratin's Purse. He's a very down to earth guy.

I would love to meet him......They are an awesome family. I was able to meet Billy Graham about 6 years ago when he did a service here in California at the Rose Bowl....It was awesome.
