When you don't drink alcohol, there seems to be a social impediment to meeting others. In my case, I don't smoke and never have, but in American culture, many activities revolve around drinking. This makes meeting ladies difficult at times.

Anyone else encounter this phenomenon?

Yes... however I don't think the girls who pick up dates at bars are the kind I want anyway!

I think it's silly how much of our dating is based on alcohol, but that's what society has deemed as the norm.

I used to drink, being a silly young man, to excess. However I never really tried to find a date out doing so. That, and the random encounter doesn't seem to work that well either... I mean... at the grocery store I would say what? "Carrots huh? Good for the eyes, do I need to buy you another bag or do you see your perfect guy yet?" Not exactly the best conversation topics to turn to dating, lol.

Well Im a social smoker, trying soooo hard to quit. I work with bands and bars...I have tons of friends, good ones, who Ive met there. But I know for a fact none of them are relationship material. Hence my chatting here. I love the interaction with people outside of my huge "circle".

I don't drink, and I have never smoked in my life and never will. I would not want to date anyone who does smoke, because it's a very bad taste. As for social functions, you might want to try a local church, because there you will run into a much higher percentage of people who don't smoke.

yep,i don't drink either and i find it's tough.i don't mind being around people drinking but too many women my age or younger want to party constantly and i don't do that crap
