well i'm a guy, or atleast people say i'am,lol, anyways, there is something definitely wrong with that, and kudos to you for not falling for that, there can be alot of stalkers on these sites, with ill intentions, so do not, i repeat do not give out your number. you really don't need to give your number out til you are well into severaly dozen messages and your comfortable that you have exhausted ever question, to find out who they are.

I have been wondering cause I have been getting alot of this lately.

Why is it guys ( maybe girls too) want phone numbers right away?

I don't talk to these guys on the site and they email me a sentence or 2 then ask for my phone #. They say it's hard for them to write what they want to say but yet they also ask to IM and if I ask them just to email for awhile until we get to know each other then they seem to get upset.

I joined a dating site other then this one too, and it happens on there too.

Just an FYI on this topic in general - I have had two instances where guys immediately wanted my personal e-mail address and then sent me pictures of themselves. Opening the pix apparently activated some kind of executable program and my e-mail account was hijacked twice. AT&T told me that these people were probably terrorists. They also put a key-logger on my harddrive to record my passwords, etc. Scary. Be careful. And yes - the ones that want to call you right away just want to hook up.

Maybe because I am a guy it is not as scary for me but I think some of you are a little over protective. I agree that if they are asking for your number after a single message (or even a couple short ones) then they most likely just want to get some, but some of you are a little parinoid, I doubt they are stalkers just creeps that don't know how relationships work. Yes I am sure the internet can be a scary place, but all phones (at least every one I have seen in the last 5 years) have caller ID. You don't like that he is calling you ignore the call. He calls too much then block the number. Life is too short to miss out on chatting someone up because you are afraid everyone is a stalker, talk to them a little, if they seem like a nice person and they ask for a number take a chance most likely all you will waste is a little bit of time, but you never know it could work out well. Again like I said I am a guy and we tend to worry about the stalker/psycho stuff alot less, but still you only live once.
