Okay gotta post it somewhere...So I've just heard that someone was transferred to corporate at my job. So there's now a management job open...well as far as any of us know...its the holidays and it will probably be a couple of weeks before we hear anything official about it...Its the next position up for me.
There's others who are as equally if not more qualified as I am for the job...really the only thing I have on my side is that I was an assistant manager outside this company for a year and a half basically doing a little more there then what I do now and less than what management does. I want the job because it will help both personal and professional life...I like the company a lot...both the people and the job it self.
Luckily...most of the time...they do promotions themselves and you just go with the flow. And with this being a corporation with companies within it, someone could be transferred in...I'm almost sure of it. However...it still has me thinking and since my supportive dad is usually the one I talk to about this stuff and well the ones who know me on here know he's kind of having his own serious issues right now...so I'll talk about it on here...but here's to give you a hint...

LOL...okay so I start this job in 2004...its the first real job besides part-time childcare provider at a YMCA that I've ever had. I've had leadership experience before so that helps...but no job...I tell my dad...nay I'm not going to get Team Leader...but I do, after only 2.5 mos working there...now for some this isn't a big deal...but it can be hard to get a promotion working at this job...but then again it can be easy...just depends...
So I then move to Wyoming in a retail job there...become Floor Sup and Receiving Sup..takes a little longer but oh well... I stay there eight months...miss home
Come back right back into my position as TL at CP (So july 2005)...mid season. I stay again through to the end...and yes go back to job in Wyoming...I stay there a year and a half...mid summer in 2006 I get a promotion (yes I got my job back as Floor Supervisor and Rec. Sup) to Assistant Manager...since we already had one I never consider I'd get it...well I did and learned a lot at my experience there...loved my boss, she and her husband are awesome people, loved the tourists, loved the beautiful area, but I missed home...at this time we did not know about dad's cancer.....
So....
I come home, hired back, after a year and half away from the place as a TL at CP...for the set-up portion...before season began, about two weeks before I was promoted to Supervisor...
Through all of this my dad keeps telling me I'll get the promotions (from tl, floor sup, to assist.man. to sup) at the end of this season I had been planning on going back to Wyoming, yes we did know about dad but things had been looking up, well I was deciding to stay when boss and director basically stated they would like me to stay. So I did...
And now I'm working in the off season at the indoor waterpark as a sales associate...waiting for set-up to begin...
Dad thinks (he mentioned this before I made the decision to stay for sure and since it was in Sept. before we knew of the opening in management...he actually doesn't know yet) I'm ready for it...though I tried explaining why not...he thinks I am...

So here's the thing...here I am excited about the news...wanting the position but pretty sure I won't get it...but still thinking about different things my boss and director said that seemed to give me hope for it...but mind you they tend to do that to keep their sups...It IS a seasonal job if you aren't in management...at least in merchandise it is.

SO...lol I don't really know how you can reply to this...it really is a venting post that I needed to get somethings out and my brain working around it...Sorry because I know this will get on the most recent posts...but don't worry I'm sure it will get off soon enough.

lol thats why I mentioned not expecting replies...lol just a vent...but cute reply and thanks...and yey usually we just need someone to listen...thats all...for me sometimes my computer screen (and I mean types off line) are the only things that hear my vents. I happen to be online so you guys get the lovely benefit of seeing it here...and I will if any of you work or know someone who works for cp and knows merch (lol I know someone who's on another site....was glad I do like my job and didn't post anything bad about it on my profile...LOL in fact I mentioned I was counting down to set up so... LOL

oh geez.. i work in retail hell AKA hellgreens (yes lovely walgreens)

anyways I'm a service clerk/ beauty advisor/ photo specialist/ pharmacy tech... basically I do everything plus I can cover for the managers when they need to take a lunch.. they want to make me an assistant manager but I refuse because I'm in college and can't work 40+ hr a week.

anyways I say go for it- if you want the position call up district or whomever is in charge of hiring and get your name in.. can't hurt to try.

why thank you...and while I'll have to concede to feeling better I still stress...but lol thats why I vent...online or off...to friends or by myself...and if that doesn't work...God and I are going in convo. mode. LOL

Thank ya...I'm considering it...I'll wait till holidays are over...and lol...you basically do end up doing a little bit of everything in retail...from heavy lifting to customer (or guest, as CP puts it) service

Seriously I love my job at Walgreens but sadly I do everything because we're so badly understaffed and the people who do work at my store are so new it's just easier for me to do the harder stuff and give them easier tasks but that usually ends up with me running around the store and being paged to another part of the store every 5 minutes

Yeah I love my job, sure by the end of the season sometimes its just you've had enough...but really thats really because we get fundraisers...mostly new ones every weekend that we have to retrain every week...we're lacking in people...we have tons of guests...but not enough stock...or employees...and yea us sups, tls, and others who've been there and stuck it through are running around like crazy....plus we work crazy hours there soooo yea sometimes by the end of the night we all just want to go crash into bed...though I never do. But I love it...working retail in the tourist industry is awesome...I don't know why and I know it doesn't sound like it is...but it really is fun...the challenges, the smiling faces of the guests (lol...okay okay some are grumpy but oh well..that goes with challenges ) and for some odd reason I like retail...haven't quite figured it out...really don't think I'd like it too much out of the tourist industry (did not really like my stint in the grocery store I worked at briefly for extra cash for a bit) but at CP your job just can be so varied...*hmmm shrugs....

hmmm for a topic I didn't expect any replies on...there sure were a few...thanks (can tell it was a slow night last night LOL)..Merry Christmas...still thinking about it...wishing it was the New Year....Goodness...LOL!!!!!!
