yeah, i was 14.....my granpa keeps a loaded .22 rifle next to his bed at all times cause of wild animals (he lives in a "town" with more wolves, deer and bears than there are people) getting into his garage and messing with his dog, so he needs to be able to get out there in a hurry in the middle of the night, fire a shot, and scare the animal before it gets through his dog's kennel. Anyway.....it was leaning against the wall and i was in his room looking for his blood sugar checker thing for him and i'm not too sure what happened but it ended up getting knocked over, going off and getting me in the shoulder.....my guess is that the safety was off but i don't know how it went off........

That's so frightening! You could have been killed! I can't believe you just laughed it off. But I'm glad you're alright. That's craziness right there. That's why I don't want guns in my house =/

i didn't laugh at first, i was scared out of my mind......i was 14 and i had a bullet in me......but we got to the hospital (45 minutes away) and i wasn't in too bad of shape, barely bleeding, consience, just in pain.....but the people at the hospital refused to treat me because my grandpa wasn't my legal guardian and my parents couldn't be reached so we were sitting there waiting for the nurses to get a hold of my parents and we were laughing and joking around and he said "wow, it's a good thing you only got shot. i don't know what these people would do if you would've been seriously hurt". but by this time i knew there was nothing seriously wrong.....of course he didn't keep his gun by his bed anymore...

Okay, that sounds a lot better and makes more sense. That's crap though that the hospital wouldn't treat you.

i was a minor and they needed my legal guardian's permission to treat me and also needed insurance information.....stupid hospitals.......thats why i don't like hospitals, clinics, or anything of the sort.....it's all paperwork and legal matters, no compassion or anything.....they don't care if you live or die as long as they don't get sued.......ridiculous.....

I agree, very ridiculous indeed! I've never had to have a hospital experience so I know nothing about it...but I know I wish there was more compassion.

I'm going to be a very compassionate psychologist ^^

i'm actually going back to school....taking college courses for business management and things like it so i can get a cushy office job where i work instead of 110 degrees in january on the factory floor.....

That sounds like a good idea to me. But would you have as much freedom? I'm sure offices wouldn't like shin kicking

i don't really care........48,000 a year is a lot better than 30,000........so it's worth it.....and because i'm going to college it'll take about 3 years to get that instead of the usual 20.....

JOSH...being shot is really bad! Sorry you had to go through that but I know you are a tough guy and probably laugh about it now.

Get that degree btw.... it was the best experience of my life so far. Plus people w/ degrees get paid more too.

Hey more power to ya if you can get that degree. (Sorry about jumpin in so late in the convo) I was gonna get a healthcare management degree...but then ran into some problems...I won't be able to even think about doing it for a few years, but yea. I wish you luck!! :)
