Yeah, if all you hear is the top 40 stuff. What about the Roots, Mos Def, KRS One, Public Enemy, Rakim, Common, etc etc etc? Hip Hop is far from dead;^]

I love the 80's...

Bring back the leg warmers and flashdance...and I'm a happy girl :)

I've noticed a lot of the "new" music now days have no substance...I'm still stuck in the 80's!

They're all still making music, last Public Enemy and KRS One full length cd's I know of were 2006 (KRS ONE "Life" & Public Enemy "Beats and Places"), Rakims last english album I know of was 98 or 99, but he does alot of stuff with Don Omar now in spanish. Point is, rap is still far from being all about gang bangin' & sex, good rap music is all over the place today if you look.

Also, in case anybody's wondering rap music isn't all samples & loops either, and even the samples used from other artists isn't stealing as these samples are bought and paid for;^]

hmmm--led zeppelin is making the tours after 30 yrs--still rockin'--

That would be '70s music!bigsmile I was awakened from a dead sleep to Robert Plant screaming the other night, as I had fallen asleep with VH1 Classic on the TV. I have to be in the right mood for the right LZ song, and that wsn't it. After a feverish 30 second search for the remote I turned the TV off and returned to my slumber.

Zeppelin came out in 1968. I was a senior in high school when Zeppelin I came outbigsmile Not trying to correct ya bro...i have alot of fun on here. I like reading your posts, you come up with some really great comments on music....Rock Ondrinker But you are right, they are considered a 70`s band.

I consider myself a bit of a "music geek". I rarely dated or went out when I was younger, and spent lots of time trying to find new bands to like. To this day, at almost 40, I've given up on finding a woman that would like all of the stuff I listen to. She Might like Tori Amos, but hate Husker Du. I just know what I like to crank up in the car when I'm going to work!bigsmile

I`m a music geek myself...When I was younger, music was my lady. in fact, my lady 'music" has never let me down. She always has what I need at the time. Never judges me if I want to listen to something else. Never complains, just entertains. When you have music and a sense of humor in your life, ya got it made.....but a lady friend that also likes the music you do, sure does help. So crank it up and keep on rockin. By the way, I also like a lot of the 80`s "hair bands" also. Rock on.

Music geek here as well, kinda goes with being a DJ..lol. I just realised I didn't post my 80's groups. Treacherous 3, RUN DMC, Dana Dane, BDP, Queen, Parliment, New Edition, Keith Sweat, I love the old Johnny Gill song "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby". And let me not forget Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers, "Tomorrow people, where is your past?";^]

If I wouldn`t had to join the workforce right outta high school,I wanted to go to school to get a degree in communications. Of course, if I would have been able to do that. I wanted to be a FM Radio DJ. Now I`m at that age, where I almost have the time, but I feel that my age is working against me. But, I`ve had a good time getting here.bigsmile

Hehe, that's the great thing about being a mobile DJ, degree doesn't really help that much. Unfortunatly only the well established DJ's can make a living off of DJ'ing alone. I'm looking at enrolling in Full Sail eventualy so I can pursue a career as either a music producer or a television/ film producer, now that's where the real money is..lol;^]
