It was wonderful! The family gathering at Eric's brothers was really nice, they liked the bake goods I made for them and I received some lovely gifts. But the best part was being with friends and having a cheerful Christmas, it's been a while since I've had that.

That's cool Larsi. Next year I'll get Christmas off, my new work place is closed on Christmas. I'll have three days off before starting my new/old job. With this one I'll have more of a consistent work schedule, so that will be nice.

That's cool. I start my new job on New Year's Eve. So I'm working both days. New Year's day we open later so I'll get to sleep in a little.

Not all places in the US pay extra on holidays. The gas station is one of those places that doesn't. Larger corporations, education, and healthcare do for the most part as part of the benefit package. Some of the smaller businesses don't offer it. They offer healthcare after 3 months, but it's outrageously expensive so I will continue to go without healthcare coverage.

Premium pay is not standard either. So I was lucky here
