Being new to this site and being an Englishman I realize there are slight differences between folks from the USA and Europe, things we do and the way we think ! So not wanting to make a complete and utter fool of myself I would like to ask advice on ageism.

Is it true that in the US females tend to stay within a very close age grouping of a few years when looking for a male ? Don't wish to write a stack of letters to females only to be thought of as some old fool..........Hell maybe I am !

I,myself am a female who prefers younger gentlemen. I do not think you will find ageism too much with either gender. There are plenty of women who like older men and vice versa here in the US. You will not make a fool of yourself. Good luck.

yes, for the most part, that is true. And that is something that you really don't find anywhere else in the world except for North America and maybe Australia. Funny how that works, isn't it? I'd rather just find the best person for me, within a reasonable age range, but here in this country, it's usually more about how good you look, and how much money you make. Never mind the rest! Also, I think that the role and social status of women is very different here in the US.

That's only true if you let yourself believe that.

Shutterbug, I think you are full of it!! Maybe some of the women you meet go by how you look and how much money you make...but not all women do!!!

I truly believe that age is just a number!! I think if 2 people like each other then age is nothing...I go by maturity and how we get along. If you find someone you are interested in, if you don't respond to them...how will you how they feel?
I think about every country feels about the same! True love shouldn't matter based on age or colour...it should be based on how you feel when you are with that person and the connection you have.

Ok, here's the deal... stop worrying about what you may be lacking and focus on what's awesome about you.

People judge the opposite sex on a large variety of categories, and it's virtually impossible to excel in every one of these departments. Lacking preferability in a certain category, such as age, will only hold you back in terms of attracting a mate (or several) if you focus your energies on the fact that you lack in said department. However, if you focus your mental energies on areas in which you excel and specialize, you will come off as more attractive and you will be happier because you are overshadowing your insignificant defecits with the glory of your natural gifts and the gifts you have previously worked hard for.

I'm short and it doesn't bother me. I don't let that hinder my "game." While it is true that females are attracted to height, I understand that the core value that height triggers within women is the feeling of security; women are subconsciously attracted to status and power because powerful men can offer more security. Height can assist a man in obtaining status and power in society. Instead of dwelling on the fact that I am short, I emphasize my charisma and fun vibe which never fails to win people over. That gives me status and power which draws females to me like flies on sh!t.

Don't worry about your age. Focus your thoughts on your blessings and your obstacles shall defeat themselves.
