Does anyone else here own pet chinchillas? I have two and I have had many many pets through out my life but after owning my first chin I am hooked. I will always have a bouncing furry little goof ball in my life from now on

I had heard of chinchillas before, but wasn't quite sure exactly what they were.
So I looked them up. The first thing it said was that it was a rodent. My first reaction was oh, no a rodent. Nothing against rodents or people having pets. It just freaked me out at first, because rodents are not my preference of pets. When I looked them up, however, I was surprised to find out that when raised with kindness by humans, they can make excellent pets. I read that they can be somewhat squeamish and nervous, they don't always like being held. They are mostly noncturnal. I read that they can develop strong bonds with their owners. That's really sweet that you have two of them as pets, and you love them. I never considered them as pets before. Thank you for sharing, and good luck with them. |

I have pet chinchillas of various colors. They have different personalities, know their names, and understand other things I say to them.
I especially like how they are sparkly after taking their dust bath! I let them run around sometimes, which they love (I usually have to catch them to get them back in their cages). |

I owned 2 years ago when living in Germany and wasn't sure about them at first but within a couple days I started to enjoy having them. Yes they are very soft and fluffy and extremely bouncy 🤣.
