any rehab?

No, I lost my job (and my insurance) when I broke my ankle. I live in this wonderful "employment at will" state, which makes it totally legal for them to fire me for that. I got a lot of advice from some of the therapists on the skating boards Im on. Overall its healing pretty well. Its only been a little more than 2 months. Brokle the fibula, plate and 6 screws, dislocated it, tore everything inside the skin. Lovely scar...eerrr.

Its my first scar. My first injury, my first trip to the ER, First IV, first surgery. I had my kds completely natural. So this has been quite and experience, and its all documented in photos on my myspace. If anyone is interested, let me know. My acount is all locked up as private. Gotta hide from the freaks.

I was doing the billing for a medical equipment company. It was my right ankle, so I couldn't drive, or walk for a month. It was scheduled to be 2 months, but with the loss of insurance, I had to have the cast taken off early. So this time in my life has been rather challenging. Its drn near impossible to find a job at this time of the year, and I have 2 little ones that count on me. Good thing I have credit cards...lol

Sorry to hear this Kravynn. Thats bs that a company can fire you and make you lose your insurance because of an injury. But I know how certain states are with their fine little laws that protect the companies. I broke my right leg (femur) in Sept. Got a pin and 4 screws put in it. 10 weeks non-weight bearing on it. 2 weeks ago, my doctor changed me from non-weight bearing to being able to walk with the aid of a walker. I had to go to a rehab facility for 3 weeks after I got out of the hospital. I have been going to therapy 3 times a week now, at a different facility since I`ve sent home.My insurance will cover me while I am off work...I hope you fully recover from what you have gone through.Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the well wishes! I moved forward much faster than I was supposed to. Im a single mom, my daughter had an emergency at school shortly after I got my cast off. Everyone on her emergency contact list called me to see if I was going to go get her. Um Im home with a broken ankle...and no car (roomie had it). So I called a friend to come get me...to go get her. The next day, I started driving again. That was about 3.5 weeks after the surgery. Im walking pretty well, its still stiff and its NOT cute. I dont think theres an ankle bone anywhere in my leg, if there is...good luck finding it.

I can see both sides of the issue here.... would you, if you were paying a babysitter, for example, want to continue to pay them if they could no longer watch your kids due to an injury? I doubt it... companies pay people to do a job.. if you can no longer do the job, especially if it is due to a recreational injury... I'm not sure why they should continue to pay ya.

I'm not trying to sound like a butthead though, and I'm sorry you are going through a rough time... live and learn!

Kravynn....Hopefully musclehd can help give you some tips as to using home exercises to help you out. You are very welcome concerning the well wishes. Ya gotta watch yourself when your ankle starts stiffing up on you. Your leg could possibly go numb, and hurt yourself...I realize you have 2 children to take care of. Ya gotta take care of yourself also.
