I recently became 69 yrs old, it's easy to talk to people, just send a message. However, there are filters which people can use. Mine allows only people who live near me in the UK to contact me, so I miss out on all those nice American ladies because they are too far away.

You can override your own email restrictions by initiating contact first, if they do not have their own filters set. Or send a friends request stating your intention.

I'm not stating that I wish I could chat with people outside my filter settings. The problem is that potentially nice people live too far away from me! Nothing can be done about that, sadly.
