my take off it, many many years latter
don't go with what others do , be yourself
but that is just me
cause if i have to change myself to be around someone , that ain't me
and how can you ever fully relax with that person if you are not yourself (let your hair down i think the old sayen goes)

granted it does help if they have anythen on there profiles , so you can ask que's about them like they like 2 pac on there profile ...so ya might ask there fav song or have ya seen the movie he was in , or they like what ever types of movies , well have ya seen this one? or the town they are in if you know something that looked cool , you could ask if they ever been there or seen it etc etc etc

List your interests and what kind of person you are looking for.

As catinidaho has said, write down some of your interests. Those interests could be conversation starters.

Also write a few lines about yourself. Ok so you are a chef, what is your favorite dish to cook for a romantic dinner? or something like that. Most women love dessert... so do bake too? These are also great conversation starters.

Just be yourself.
