Topic: Tim Tebow wins the Heisman | |

tebow is not even the best quarterback in the ncaa much less the best player. isn’t that who the award is supposed to go to?
also you seem to forget that d-mac had another running back on his team that also run for over 1,000 yards jones is a stud and you have to give him his carries. d-mac only had a little over 300 carries and still rushed for over 1,700 yards |

The award goes to the most outstanding player. If you don't think he had the most impressive season of anyone in college football, you weren't paying attention.

Tebow had an awesome season, and I figured he would win it. But D-Mac deserved to win it. Sorry, but dude had less talent around him, was the focus of every defense he faced, and still put up impressive numbers. Tebow has tons more talent around him that helps to make him better. He is an outstanding player. But D-Mac should have won. Just my opinion.

I understand that argument, but you have to look at the season that Tebow had... 51 touchdowns... 51!!! Playing the QB position he rushed for more TDs than any running back in the history of the SEC.. more than Hershel Walker, more than Bo Jackson, more than Shaun Alexander... as a f'ing quarterback! To play QB and take that kind of punishment is simply amazing... oh, and he also threw for 29 TDs with only 6 INTs... and a passer rating of 177 - higher than any QB who has ever won the Heisman... this was one of the finest season-long performances we will ever see in college football...
Dmac was great, simply amazing at times, but his inconsistency killed his Heisman bid... Tebow was impressive every game, win or loss. |

I honestly think both of them deserved to win but I do think Tebow probably deserved it more. I have to agree with Zachary......29 passing, 22 rushing tds....is pretty impressive.
AND I HATE FLORIDA!!!! |

As a die-hard Buckeyes fan... trust me, I have no love at all for Florida....

And as a die hard Penn State fan, I have no love for Florida or OSU. But congrats to them for getting to the Championship game. Represent the Big 10 well.

Yeah Zach, I will not argue with Tebow getting the trophy. Like I said, just my opinion about DMac winning it. I know the stats, and they are simply amazing. Those alone tell you that him winning it is well deserved. I realize that had he not won it, people would still talk about the "sophomore" curse on the trophy, or how the voters just will not vote for someone who is a Freshman or Sophomore. Can't say that now.

IT'S ABOUT TIME THEY MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE!
Interesting true story: Everyone talks about Media Bias. Well, I've ALWAYS said that there's a Sports Media bias. The other day, Thursday, I think, I was listening to Larry Smith on CNN. He's supposed to be the sports guy--tells scores, shows highlights, who's gotten busted for steroids, ect. He was actually running down Tebow, and promoting Darren McFadden. His comments about Tebow: "Sure, he's scored 22 rushing TDs. But,you've gotta realize, most of them occored within the 5 yard line." His comments about McFadden: "He may have only scored 15 TDs this season. But he had to run them in from farther out than Tebow." Well, excuse the Hell out of me. Not taking anything away from McFadden, but isn't that HIS FREAKING JOB? And WHAT does it say about a QB that has SEVEN more RUSHING TDs than one of the leading running backs in the nation? As I alluded to earlier, After DECADES of making the wrong choices--are you listening, Charles Woodson, Tim Brown, Charlie Ward--the Heisman selection committee actually got it right for once. Kinda reassures my faith in the ole blind squirrel/acorn theory |
