I quit smoking 18 yrs ago and it was hard then and I am sure that it would be even harder now, yes wellaburtin works well, my ex husband used it to quit smoking. I wish you all the best, and you will have times when you will give in, but I am sure that you will be able to kick the habit. Good Luck

iv been smoking for 35yr. iv tryed to quit so many times now id like to realy quit any tips for old smokey

For anyone it can be a battle royal! Just depends on if its "habit" or "addiction" on which way you battle it.

When I was young (Moses had just parted the Red Sea) and you could get cigs for .35 a pack out of a pull knob vending machine! Johnny Carson and all the movie stars smoked openly and it was "THE THING" to do to be "grown up". It was long after I got addicted to the nicotine things went bad and everyone went against cigs.

I have seen people just quit..on the spot and no trouble at all. Then others like me..I tried "cold turkey" and was one of the biggect pr*cks on the planet..and I admit it!

So there are several "battle fronts", so the first step is figuring out what "battle fronts" you, as an individual face, then take a look at all your options.

it's a hell of a battle...but it CAN BE WON!

Best of luck to all! bigsmile

man that's got to be tough growing up years ago when smoking was the cool thing. It was discouraged when I was growing up but they never gave you that same chance. I'd be so mad at that, and than years later having to deal with society putting rules on where you can smoke after having you hooked.

I know what you are going through. I started smoking when I was in high school. I always wanted to quit, but it is so hard. The thing that finally did it for me was Chantix. I swear it is like a miracle pill. After two weeks of taking it, I just quit. That has been five months ago and I was constantly surrounded by friends and family that smoked and the pill just takes away the craving. It is weird, but works. I suggest if you are serious about it, talk to your doc. Good luck...oh--the one time that I did screw up was at the bar one night, but the next morning I woke up and was just DONE
