I recommend staying away from any "labtobs", since they tend to be big and unwieldy.

I'd also recommend getting a Mac, but some people aren't awesome enough to use them.

Make sure if you get one with Vista, that you get at least 2 Gb RAM. This question would work better in the computer section. Lots of folks there are knowledgeable and have talked me through a number of situations.

definitely not a labtop, they suck, LOL

big screen, fastest processor you can afford(usually AMD is cheaper than intel, but both are good quality), 1 gb ram minimum, wireless b/g/n...yes all three. CD and dvd burner, if it has other wireless like bluetooth built in thats good too. Look for the best mfgr warranty. Should be atleast a year. If you plan on moving it a lot strongly consider an extended warranty.

lets see, what did I miss??

I have both a PC and a laptop.. they're both Dells. I like them both and recommend you read up on consumer's report before buying one.. I have a Dell Inspiron e1405.. MACs just aren't my thing.. haha. but either way deff check with someone at the store who knows about the comps before buying one.

Dell was rated a winner in Consumer Reports. I have a Toshiba and love it.
