Well, there's "That boy ain't right" and "crazy".
Our shift manager is nuts. His panic button is stuck in the "on' position. He also has several odd habit, like asking really stupid questions. Example: I'm on a clamp truck, loading a trailer to go to a store. the question: "Are you loading this?" |

All of my patients have some form of dementia/alzheimers.....so is that a form of crazy? They dont bother me as much as ppl at work who have nothing better to do but talk behind each others backs..... Oh boy Gyps, my Mother has alzheimers and no that's not a form of crazy, it's a form of losing everything about you that once was. Com'on now, you shouldn't be working with dementia patients if you're asking that question. I think you were probably joking, but when a loved has alzheimers and you see them reduce to nothing, it ain't a laughing matter. i'm a housekeeper on a dementia unit and believe me it can be crazy at times especially when people fight over kleenex.I have been punched, clawed, sworn at you name it.I love them all though as I'm sure Gypsy does too.To work with them everyday, you must have a sense of humor,a sense of compassion and most of all a thick skin.I will tell you that even the worst of them have never been reduced to nothing.A person is in there, maybe not the same person you grew up with, but a person just the same. My prayers are with ya angel. |

Hey Devilsmom thanks for your prayers. I'll never forget that episode of The Sopranos when Tony was diagnosed with alzheimers. He called it a death sentence. It was then that I realized that this desease would ultimately take my Mother away from me. When I say people with it are reduced to nothing, I mean they lose their minds, their bodily functions, and eventually they forget who they are, let alone you. My Mom is probably mid to late stages and I'm seeing the rapid decline and it's so scary. She still is very aware of who we are and all thank goodness so I'm very grateful that is does not seem to be getting the best of her yet. My Dad is taking such good care of her every need and is so strong for all of us.

Ever worked with people who are wierd or crazy. There's a guy at my job who wears the exact same clothes EVERY day. I can not believe it. Who at your job is crazy???? LOL..you call that "crazy"?? Thats just "fashion challenged". |

How do these crazy people get to keep their jobs????
It amazes me how crazy people get away with being crazy at work. I mean, leave crazy at home, go to work, act normal, go home, and be crazy all you want. |

Angels, I was joking......and my mother has had early onset alzheimers since she was 54. She is 67 now and is in the same unit I work... As for not working with these patients I think I have a far clearer view than the average person about loss from the disease. |

hey angel make sure Dad is taking care of himself.Caregivers health can decline from the strain. Mom sounds like shes a fighter.I saw a episode of WIRED on PBS.There is a brain institute which takes donations of brains from altzheimers, parkinsons patients etc and studies them. They say they maybe able to prevent or inhibit the progress of altzheimers and parkinsons within 3 years...I know there are strides being made.I'm no medical professional though so google around.lots of info out there.Again prayers and hugs to you.

I'm the senior man at my job. 15 years. 70 hour weeks. I'm the crazy one. Most run. That's good. Because I get paid days off for beating up my coworkers. That's incentive for me to beat up my coworkers and incentive for my coworkers to do their jobs or stay out of my way. It is funny to watch them run though.

Like the coworker I caught that went in my inbox and tore open my paycheck because he's a nosy peeper. That's a federal offense and none of his business. I pounded him into a stain right in my bosses office. I got to go fishing with pay! He went to hospital unconcious. Now he runs away like a little scared girl. Don't mess with my paycheck.
