One hour t.v. time? Like they've dated or known each other in some way for days, months, years, whatever, and that is edited down to one hour to give the proposal context?
A kind of romantic virtue signalling of who can tug the audiences "awww, so romantic" strings the hardest?

Or complete strangers are locked in a room, threatened with death in one hour, and are only let out if there is a proposal. If the proposal is declined they are robbed and kicked out (cuz actually killing them would violate their insurance), but if accepted they win a million dollars and when they're let out the rest of their life is under armed guard and constant surveillance in order to make sure they didn't just propose for the sake of the prize and t.v. fame before a quickie divorce/annulment?


Are they signing any legal documents? Because in some states an engagement is almost as good as a marriage and people are entitled to things like palimony or compensation. Breach of marriage promise is real...in some states.


I hope the producers are reading up on the contestants psych profiles?
