Ok now, a very close buddy is getting shipped to the sand box for a long peroid of time. He has two little boys and a wife. I fully support him and all the people over there but my feelings are of such that I wonder why we defend those who hate us. I have mixed feelings about all this but I know we need to defend this country against those who would see us falter and hate us because we threaten their exsistance as a dictator and ruin their ideals of world domination. Yet I feel so much for our people who defend the defenseless, yet they are treated with disrespect by our people here and still others come here to reap the benifits of their blood and sacrifices without giving anything but wanting things their way in return and feel that they are owed. I just want to live where my children and grandchildren don't have to fear someone who is so bent on destruction of our way of life because we threaten their ideoliges. Sorry people I have gone on long enough here but, I feel it when it comes close to home. I pray for all our men and women who defend us and keep us free, but it is high time the people who we call our government, does their job and stops quibbling amoungst theirselves. Please help me understand why?

Well as a former soldier it is mainly do to the love of our country. Granted its because Bush cant keep his nose out of other countries. I originally completly agreed with the war but not its direction. When I was shot and discharged it wasnt the people who made me feel unwelcome, it was the government.

i dont have any idea why we are over there other then the money thing...i wish that they would bring em all back home and make the dying stop. Yes i understand that we went over there because we wanted to find bin laden...then we stayed because sadaam might have WMD but those where never found..why are we staying over there to let our young men and women die? youve got me stumped maybe you should ask my cousin who just went back for the 3rd time...and not because he wanted to...hes got a wife and a brand new baby

Brother, I can easily say "I HATE WAR!" And this one, just like all the rest since WWII is BULLSH*T!!!
We should not have even ONE AMERICAN over there right now. The USA is involved for ONE REASON ONLY and thats OIL (MONEY!) And to sacrafice even ONE American life, for just as you put it, those who HATE US...and are taught to KILL US is the worst corruption we have! It's our government and those who run it (money people). General MacArthur said in a speach i heard.."You use war as a very last resort, but when you have to use it, you hit the enemy with everything you have and make it as short as possible." hence we have not won a "conflict since WWII. I was against this one from the beginning and still am. I will ALWAYS honor those who serve, they are just doing thier duty! But our government..George W. Bush and all the other POS on capital hill can burn in hell!  Sorry, don;t usually show my anger side, cause it takes a lot to get me there. But I knew soldiers who have died there and thier families. if I could change I would..I would bring back ever US soldier and get this country straight. If there was an actual "threat" from any part of the world, I'd wipe them off the face of the planet..I guarentee no one would mess with us for at least the next 100+ years. OK, off that soap box. God bless our troops! |

the irrational is that
they feel if they take the fighting to them then it will not expand and come to us although i find this ideology flawed in that in do this those in charge are alienating themselves from most of the ""we the people"" but they feel that if they do not ""control"" were the violence is it will come here and they feel that the "we the people" could not be a party to that so those in charge send the volunteer "we the people" around the world to keep an eye on things and try to stomp out any violence before it reaches this country thus alienating most of the "those the people" as well put i feel they need to quit playing a superman wanna be (even superman had those that did not like him and just mind our own business maybe an invasion would cause the yanks to wake up a little |

There is no good answer to 'why'. Not for this war for sure, not for any. No one ever really 'wins' because all sides become less human & all sides lose so many young, promising lives. I support the kids over there, but wish they were all back here where they belong.

God bless our troops! Amen and to add my thought to your thought, we removed the only control in that region, yes, I did not agree with his methods but he was controlling in a way they understand. Iraqis do not and will not understand a democracy. We will now lose lives for an illegal war started by baby shrub a long time into the future.  They have fought each other for thousands of years in that region and we will now be in the middle of it for the next thousand

I think all they are doing is creating a distraction so they can continue on with their own agenda, gaining control of the oil supply and plumping their own wallets. They have no respect for our soldiers at war or those who are injured and come home. Look at Walter Reed, for one example. Our govt is our worst enemy at this time. God bless the American troops!!
