What I remember about my 84 was that the speedo stopped at 85 mph, but there was no peg to stop the needle. At 85, it was at about 3,000 rpm in 5th, but a few times, I had that little bugger at about 4,500 or so. I seem to remember figuring out that each 10 mph was 250-300 rpm more. I knew the Mustang I had would go about 130, and my ex and I had to both drive our vehicles home from a friend's house in Texas, to our home about 40 miles away. It was a nice straight shot, without any stop signs. By the time we both got home, I was just about 20 seconds behind her.
