I have set my mail setting to 50 miles max. For the most part it works great. I recently received mail from someone about 250 miles away.

I think most people have their wrong city on their profile. The one that got by the settings did not.

i have seen that if there is another state with a city name the same as one inside your distance filter the other states will turn up.
for me salem nh is inside 50 miles. so every salem in the country turns up occasionally |
