Do I think there is a UNIFIED plot behind this stuff?No of course not.

What I have found in my long study of human behavior,is that humans are at their core,fairly simple and direct. Throughout their lives, they try to figure out what to chase after to have a "good time of things,"and then they chase whatever that is.

The number one cause of all the social media stuff,and the way that social privacy has been overturned by it, is actually a mechanical result of that same basic human behavior. If something CAN be done, and it's at all "fun," humans over all, will run with it even if that means running off a cliff. Then as they are falling, they often look back angrily and try to blame anything from whoever invented running, to the cliff itself, for the fact that they jumped.

In the case of something like Facebook, it started out as the idea of a guy who correctly understood that the way to make headway with people, was to collect information about them, in order to make it easier to interact with them, chancing to come of age in the era of electronic device addiction. The way to make money from electronic device addiction has always been the same: sell advertising to people trying to make money doing other stuff. That's how TV works, how radio works,how news delivery systems work, and so on.

And when the advertisers discovered that they could make MORE money if they targeted their ads to people who were most likely to be receptive, the age of human behavior data collection popped into being. Combine those things, with standard issue human over-eager sloppiness,and you get the end of real privacy.

FB forces members to publicly reveal their last name to use the site. FB also asks for cell phone numbers to verify accounts. Loss of privacy for anyone who uses the site. The option is not to use the site but then people miss out on the online community and interaction. That's how FB hooks people. Evil

Maybe u dont play there, but what matters is the numbers not a minority and the masses play and play there and on all sister sites as twitter, wikipedia, quora etc. On quora i got banned immediately for stating my personal opinions and noone supported me on this.
