the Holstein herd I milked averaged higher than most herds because of the Super cow family. That is what Jake called the family because they milked 100 pounds plus per day. I had a small herd of Guernseys, they were about 60-70 pounds of milk per day. My cousins had Jerseys which milked 30-40 pounds per day, but that is below normal for Jerseys. My cousins were peanut farmers and only had the Jerseys for personal use; cheese, butter, cream, milk. |
