A friend of mine recently compared the brush off a lot of us good guys get from girls to being rejected from a job.

"It's like getting called back for a second interview, and then sitting down at that little chair in the corner and being told 'I'm sorry, I'm afraid we can't give you the job at this time. Instead, we're going to hire someone much less qualified and pay them much more than we would have paid you. But what we will do is keep your number on hand, so that we can call you occasionally to complain about the person we did hire. And when we inevitably fire them for incompetence or failure to preform job tasks, we will shuffle past your resume again to the next, less qualified applicant. Thank you and have a good day.'"
