For me it was out of necessity. I was working for a few years in a part of the world that did not allow social media. Not even Yahoo. Most everything was blocked. The news was censored.

But for some reason could get on Mingle, So I was able to find out what was really going on back home and I could also communicate with other westerners.

I made friends and stayed on when I return to the states.
