I haven't had that happen, but you'd want to contact the librarian and have them contact the police or their security guard if they have one. Today, my daughter and I had a very weird experience at a Kmart. This woman claimed she wanted to pay for our items with her debit card. She did a lot of double talking, and in doing so, she mentioned that she couldn't use the card somewhere else, which I found weird. To make a long story short, I didn't help her out and she got upset with me and then refused to buy the laundry detergent she had in her shopping cart. My daughter and I discussed this on the way home. There are two possibilities. First, she stole the debit card and it wasn't hers (highly likely), and second, the debit card didn't have enough money on it, so she was going to try and take someone elses money (also possible). Anyway, I called the store, talked to the manager and told her exactly what happened, for which she was extremely grateful to know about. Anytime someone does something weird, in a public place, it's always best to let someone in charge about it because there's a good chance they are up to no good. And, if they can't get away with their scam with one person, they will always try another.

After the incident I dealt with today, I'm glad that I'm not rich, although scammers will try and target anyone, anywhere.

At the store where I workl we get that. But most times it isn't a scam. There are some places that don;t keepo their debit machines properly maitained as the card will not work. Or it could be the magnetic strip is worn or broken. In the latter case they just go next door to the bank (Fort Smith only has one bank) Then there is the occasion that it's a scam.

If this happened at school have the librarian notify campus security the next time it happens.
