It was good
Stayed up late, don't have to work today.
How was your day?

It was very productive.
I went to set up my class and was told I have over planned for next week.
I need to relax and not stay up to 1 am planning when it's not needed.

Yes I think I can handle that. Lol

It's funny how that works, spend so much time planning, and then find it's not really needed.

I can see you love your profession.
I spent about five years as a substitute teacher for special ed.
I loved working with children with special needs.
Don't have a teaching certificate though
My degree is in psychology, Bachelors.

Wow that's so cool
What do you do during the day?
Would you go back to teaching?

It takes a special person to work with children who have special needs

No, I'm only able to sub and would only consider working in special education.
Problem with subbing is you have to follow the teachers plan and discipline techniques, even if you don't agree with it...very sad sometimes.

I'm a concierge at the resort.
I started as a pool attendant
I created the pool concierge position when I started helping guests with planning their day, reservations for dinner, parasailing, massages, etc.
Management liked what I was doing so got HR to approve creating a new position as a Guest Experience Concierge. It's fun.

When I'm not working, I don't do a lot right now...mostly relax from working long days.

As does working with all children, thanks though! It's funny, I don't have the patience for regular ed children, but I'm great with children who have special needs.

I worked as a sub in Michigan. I got requested a lot for the classrooms for children with autism, and children with emotional challenges.

Thanks. It's a nice job. I would like to do something different, though I'm not sure what. Down here in the Keys though, working in hospitality is your best bet in staying employed. Plus, I'm going to start supervisor training, so there's possibilities of advancement, that I don't have in the psychology field.

And who knows....I could transfer to other locations within the company I work for, or to another resort somewhere else.

When I subbed here I did my own planning.
The teachers love it and wanted me all the time. They were always asking me.

I had a few like that, but a lot squashed any attempts I made.
Some told me I don't have a teaching degree, so what do I know!
I guess it depends on where you are.

When I was in Arizona working as an education technician, they loved my ideas for behavior modification techniques...the students had multiple challenges and adverse behaviors, very violent at times.

That is really cool that you experienced that.

You don't have to have a degree to prove you are capable of doing a job. With your experience I would be asking you for advice. Would be stupid not to.
