Hi mate,
Yes actually. The investigation is in progress and they heard accounts from some residents. At the moment some of the firemen are being quizzed. One of the first fire officer's on the scene is saying that they'd had no training with regards to the staying put of residence. This is a policy, keep your door shut and we'll get to you when the fire is under control. they have previously said that the "fire" doors to each flat /apartment were only half hour doors instead of at least one hour. This is meant to hold the fire back for that time. In my opinion and seeing the fire on tv as did everyone the fire was travelling up the outside of the building so it spread that way. usually it's from the inside! Another fireman said there wasn't sufficient water pressure to. Now I know you're interested I'll keep posting updates when I hear them |

Here in NYC the doors must be fire rated at 90 minutes.. and the code department is fanatical about that.. rightfully so.
One of my brothers is a battalion chief in the FDNY and he tells me that biggest problem is that the fire gets in the duct work and " jumps" floors. On some of the bigger hi rise fires he has been on he says you just don't know where it is going to pop out and it traps people and hinders firemen trying to get to them. |

Yes greeneyes, that's a problem with ducting, also even if the door is the correct one when fitted people do like to tamper with them, ie. prop them open and alter them.
It seems that the cladding on the outside acted as a "duct" of sorts, having an unsealed void behind it. |

They have just shown the questioning of a fire officer whilst showing phone footage. It showed a water jet being aimed at the windows "below" the fire, he couldn't say why that was.
