Given the symptoms of addiction withdrawal, which I have unfortunately directly witnessed in friends, I would say no, absolutely not.

Real addiction involves physical illness and usually incapacitation.

Even emotional addiction is rare, and consists of a hell of a lot more than "really really missing them, and feeling very bad that they are gone."

My sympathies to anyone who has lost their mate, for any reason, I know all too well how painful that can be, and how difficult to bear, and to recover from. But I would never use the word addiction lightly, and I don't know directly of anyone who was ACTUALLY addicted to another person.

The best reason I have seen for NOT falling into any trap such as thinking that you are "addicted" to someone, is that you are giving away both your responsibility, and more important, your own power to start your own healing process.
