A 65-year-old Gaithersburg woman who pleaded guilty to transporting prostitutes to Maryland with her children and other relatives was sentenced yesterday to 15 months in prison.

According to a plea agreement presented at U.S. District Court in Greenbelt, Olinda Aparicio conspired with her daughters Elsy Aparicio and Dorinalda Aparicio, her son Eliazor Aparicio, her sister Rosibel Aparicio Jandres and her brother-in-law Manuel Jandres to transport hundreds of women from New York and New Jersey to Maryland for work as prostitutes.

The women, mostly illegal immigrants, operated from apartments and houses in Gaithersburg, Germantown, Langley Park and Wheaton, authorities said. The Aparicio family members would pick the women up in New York and New Jersey and drive them to Maryland to work as prostitutes for a week at a time, officials said.

Olinda Aparicio pleaded guilty in November to conspiracy to transport women for prostitution purposes. The other family members have also pleaded guilty to charges in connection with the case and await sentencing, according to the office of the U.S. Attorney for Maryland.

She should have gotten more than 15 months!!

Vogel’s brief story in the Washington Post was part of a Maryland Crime Briefing about a prostitution ring run by 65-year-old Olinda Aparicio, with help from her daughters Elsy Aparicio and Dorinalda Aparicio, her son Eliazor Aparicio, her sister Rosibel Aparicio Jandres, and her brother-in-law Manuel Jandres. The family, all of whom have pled guilty to involvement in the prostitution ring, transported hundreds of women from New York and New Jersey to work as prostitutes in Maryland. As Vogel put it, “The women, mostly illegal immigrants, operated from apartments and houses” in Maryland.

true! the court probably considered this her first offense instead of counting each woman as an offense.

Yeah, people like that make the rest of us look bad!

Yeah, they probably promised them a job and a real life. These people only got 15 months!??

Its the dominoe effect.......hmmmmmm making immigration illegal, thus making ppl who are barely able to eat in their own country be forced, usually at a young age to perform sex acts on strangers...usually lied to by these ppl who exploit the fact that immigration is "illegal".

well it just another interprise the illegals were into they smuggle the drugs into and distribute in our country,if soneone is caught bringing marajuana into the country they only serve 1 day per pound...
