I hear there's still such a thing
As a happy holiday Families gather 'round the table Food stretches as far as the eye can see Happy laughter drifts through every home But that cannot be There has been no evidence of a happy holiday Since the firefighters took him away from me They took all I ever needed My laughter on the saddest days A warm bear hug when the world stopped caring Every year my heart would dance In anticipation of thanksgiving I knew that ugly old station wagon would rumble down the road Out he would step and with a tiny wave My holiday was complete Dinnertime arrived we'd laugh and reflect on days gone by His cheesy jokes tickled my heart Endless pictures were taken As my cousins and I played Nothing could make the day more perfect I hear there's such thing As a happy holiday But there's been no sign of that Since the firefighters took him away |
