Freedom to worship

Brought them here

To allow them to choose

How to hold God high

Traveling here by ship

With loved ones dear

Their passions to let loose

Sending prayers up high

Having no idea what this trip

Would bring forth everywhere

The freedoms they would set loose

From the tyranny they did fear

It had choked them like a noose

Across the waters they did fly

This decision was not flip

The price they paid was dear

Away from all they had ever known

They built a life of their own

Mistakes they made many

Blessings they had aplenty

To build a new life took dauntlessness

But they also remembered thankfulness

So we celebrate with reverence

Their steadfast deference
