It appears i have 1 new message but when go to in box there is nothing there? is this a bug or what has happened to that message?

Could be the member has deleted there profile or more likely was a scammer!!

Sometimes it happens that your own recently sent message appears in your inbox as a "new" message .. it's a bug.
But most likely there was a "HI" message from a scammer, whose profile has been deactivated, as mentioned the gent above. |

It could just be an invite for friendship or a notification that someone picked you as one of their favorites...
