"A Loss of the Heart"

Long ago I found a hope
on which my heart did soar
The gentle touch of a lovers kiss
new love within reborn

My joy and passion grew each day
those times we spent together
Both day and night we smiled
my life it seemed much better

To soon did all this change
no longer did I cheer
A shadow crept upon my heart
and took what I held dear

An addicts choice that I regret
how dearly did I pay
For alone now I am living
cause your love I lost that day

Looking back upon the past
I see how I had errored
Unable to change what was
when you wondered if I cared

If only I could let you see
just how I'm torn apart
Knowing then that you would feel
the pain within my heart

I pray you will forgive me
somehow the wound will mend
That once again I'd hold you
and return to what was when
