Goofball, is that a pic of Jett Lee ( was that the main actor's name?) from The Crow?

Jess:

It's Brandon Lee from The Crow.

No, we didn't have kids, but I figured she just kept it cause we were married 9 years and she just didn't want to change it. But, if she gets married again, then I wonder what she will do. She told she would always be Mrs. (my last name inserted here) and I had to remind her that no she wasn't....cause if I ever remarry then that lady will be Mrs. (my last name inserted here). laugh

LMAO. Yes, my micro processor sometimes fails me too. And, like you, this movie is a fav of mine. Shame he died during the making of it. But I love this pic of him.

You too? White dresses just make me break out in hives girlfriend. I itch for days.laugh laugh laugh

Okay. Okay. That was my gay moment for the day. Anyways........I guess the good thing about being a man is that you don't have to change your last name. Speaking of which, how did the whole taking the husbands last name come about. Is it in the bible? In my teachings I don't remember it saying it in there. But then again, I skipped a lot of the books in the bible, so it could be in there. But I am thinking that it was the aliens that helped the Egyptians build the pyramids that started it all. I could be wrong.

White picket fence? Do those still exist? And who in the blue hell created that whole scenario of, "white picket fence, a dog, two kids, stay at home mom, grass is perfectly cut and manicured..blah, blah, blah." Tell me. Who came up with that? I suspect that the answer is hidden in The Last Supper painting. I mean, Da Vinci did prove that Mary and Jesus were husband and wife right? So, I am thinking the "white picket fence" theory is in that painting. I am almost sure of it.

Some idiot invented it, back when women were swapped for a camel three pigs and a bag of wheat, and was classed as goods and chattels...laugh laugh laugh

The white picket fence I think was part of the Stepford Wife syndrome of the fifties, but don't quote me on it... the micro processor needs defragging..... laugh

Oooooh, I don't want to be a Stepford wife. But a stay at home Mommy? That would rock! Take yoga and have lunch with my girls and not have to punch a freakin time clock.

Wake up...just a fantasy!

Time for the real world. The boy is shaggy and needs his hair cut. Then going to see the new whitewater center and chase him around the trails!

Yes. Damn us men for swapping women for those "goods and chattels". But, see, you could look at it like this. In those days, women were few and far between (compared to the male population) so if a guy had a woman, he knew he could fetch a good bargain for her. But then again, is the camel going to satisfy you sexually? I guess it could. And we all know that wheat just can never satisfy in bed. Its' track record just flat out sucks. Don't even get me started on the pigs.noway laugh

Ah yes! Stepford Wife syndrome. Hmmmm. Good point. And see, I think this just proves that Area 51 does exist and that aliens do live among us. Everything was just so neat and proper. Makes you wonder if they were doing cloning back then before it broke big a few years back? Hmmmmmm. I mean, how can one woman handle the cooking, cleaning, and all the other duties she had? Yup....had to have been cloning.

Sooo....I guess that aliens actually did the "white picket fence" theory, while man made women into slaves by taking there last names? I think my micro-processor just exploded.laugh

Actually here in Canada I believe that marriage occuring in the province of Quebec thae lady cannot change her name to that of her husband she is required by law to keep her maiden name. At least that was the law there a few yrs back in Quebec.

my ex's last name was changed after the marriage to his dads last name from his moms maiden name so if i used my married name it still wouldnt be my husbands last name..

i changed my last name when i got married...

i know nothing of my biological doner...errr....father, other than his name, no pictures or anything..so..

i changed it..

when i decided to file for the divorce, after carefully considering going back to my maiden name, i figure...the only good thing that came outta my marriage was our daughter, so ...this is my constant daily reminder of a lesson learned..

im Ms. Ellgee TheAss

if i ever marry again, i'll drop his last name in a heartbeat

I changed my name to his name...

Divorce...

Could not wait to get my maiden name back!

My first name sounds SO much better with my maiden name..and I do not have any negative connotations towards my maiden name.laugh

I have heard some of the women where I work who have been through divorces say that is real hassle in paperwork with the changes of the last names.

When I was married I never changed my name; it was a complicated marriage and I just never bothered to change it to his. I'm really glad I kept my name; it made things easier when we split. Besides I really like my last name. If I get married again -- who knows maybe I will change it!

Why is it that an ex-wife wants to keep her married name, even when she is divorced? I just never got that, and, in all honesty, my ex never could give me a reason. I am thinking she was just too lazy to go and change it.laugh

For me, I kept it because we have children together. Less confusion I thought for the kids, however my 9yr drew a picture less the last name, asked her why and she said because I was divorced from her dad... while yes I do believe there is some 'verbal jabs' said to the children, I kept it for professional reasons too, for my licensing... my maiden names 'sucked' so perhaps drop the last name off for good or close eyes and pick one from the phonebook lol

I am very traditional, I took his name and will take my next husbands also. I wanted to keep his name at first because I was lazy and didn't want to try and get it changed back everywhere. I did ask him what his thoughts were, and his girlfriend at the time threw a fit about it, so I changed it. I am very happy now that I went back to my maiden name. I think if we would have left each other under better terms it would have been different.

I only know one person who hyphenates her name. She was widowed when her youngest child was only 18 months old. When she married my uncle, they hyphenated their names then shortened the 2 togther to VanPan. Both names are very long. By doing that, their kids from each of the previous marriages could keep their last names and not feel left out of the marriage with the new names. It works wonderfully for them.
