In theory... but at the same time, entirely broken down, Freud was a nut in his own right and had odd enough ends to every assumption he came to about people and they're underlying feelings. What brought about his success was people's need to be told what to do, how to do it, and the need for an answer about why every time they get close to mommy they have funny feelings.
