Noden -- I spent months trying to help someone here and got badly burned (well, incinerated) for my efforts.
And I have found it a little odd, at times, how quickly some people can open up and talk about their entire life story, and everything bad that ever happened to them -- but, then again, it's the internet, it's safer in some ways, what with the anonymity and all. I have a fairly extensive background in psychology and have always found myself drawn to the concept of helping people. It's part of who I am. But I really don't think I'm going to be bringing that out here anymore.... |

Probably a good idea, Lex i have a bachlors degree in psych, but i try to keep out of that here, as this is my stress reliever at work and it relaxes me, I get enough stress here at work!

Seriousely though...
Sometimes people do need someone to listen to them- so they can vent... Sometimes it is too much for the listener to deal with. We are only human... I say if they have extreme problems- counseling may be needed. We can listen only so much... |

First and foremost this is a dating site and there are forums here for someone whom may have problems, but when you are just getting to know someone, breaking the ice when fun stuff, then all of a sudden it gets to all about there problem and you don't know what to say, what then, do you ignore them...cause you can't deal with it, even though you've told them that, or let's say your having fun in the forums, they see your spirits are high, and they in return, try to drag you away so they can talk, but then you find your arse dragging, to the point, you just get offline.

Hi Lex
Noden -- I spent months trying to help someone here and got badly burned (well, incinerated) for my efforts. And I have found it a little odd, at times, how quickly some people can open up and talk about their entire life story, and everything bad that ever happened to them -- but, then again, it's the internet, it's safer in some ways, what with the anonymity and all. If a person is dragging you down- then maybe you need to tell
them that you have helped as much as you can- and can not do anymore... if they keep bugging you- well then maybe ignoreing them may have to be done. I know you are not a mean person- yet sometimes we have to turn away. Never let someone bother you so bad- that you go off line just to avoid them... |

This medium definitely distorts time and people's perception...
