I always wondered if the show was legit. I thought it was pretty entertaining though.

My cousin had a few private sessions with him and he was right on the money with her. He knew about her 7 yr old son dying in their backyard, and about her father passing away a few months later.

My grandmother on my dad's side was psychic and her husband was a Baptist minister. She was a good cook is all I remember but dad told me some stories about her that I thought were kind of eerie. I have some strange kinfolk.

I love that show. When my fiance died about 5 years ago, I started watchin it, and it kinda made things a little easier for me, believing that he would always be around me in spirit

I bet if someone has had someone who has passed that it would put a different take on the show.

John Edwards is a master of cold reading. He is a fraud, who uses a common magician trick to fool people. Cris Angel does the same stuff, but admits that it's stage magic.

I've been an entertainer (magician) for years.... but wait.... I'm not going the direction you might think.
I believe that we all desire to believe in life after death (or at least a good majority of us). My personal beliefs are that even I am a very good judge of character, and one can be very sensitive to anothers (demise), utilizing this to an advantage point, from an entertainment perspective. Does it seem and look real, you bet. In the same sense, I also think that one needs to seperate charlatans who are out there to simply gain either success or money from sincere individuals. I think there is a fine line there. The bottom line is if the person finds some closure from a deceased loved one through a medium then so be it. Do I believe in it - no way. Do I believe that there are those (mediums) out there that have a great heart and desire to see others heal - you bet. Only an individual can decide on their own what they believe and why they believe it. Some people simply need this emotional support, if that is to help and not harm, then why not? My experience as a professional magician has taught me that people can get very caught up in a moment and even I can utilize my work skills to work off of their emotions. However, that is just my perspective. Whatever your view, you are indeed entitled to that. I wish you all success and care greatly that any of you dealing with any pain (from that of a passed loved one or simply a broken heart) are able to heal and move onward. You can do it and you are the best you you got! You deserve fufillment and happiness - you really do. Laugh a lot and Smile often, Billy "The Psyche Show" |

=============================================================== Spidercmb: Have you ever heard of a Doctor on the radio named Dr. Dean Adell(hope I'm spelling that right). On one of his shows a few years ago, he explained exactly how Edwards does his "magic". Don't really remember all his little tricks, but one essential weapon in Edward's arsenal is a photographic memory. Loved the episode of South Park where they skewered Edwards tho. ("And now the award for the galaxy's biggest douchebag is.....") Actually, I do believe that there are psychics out there. I do not believe John Edwards is one of them. |

sweetbilly,
=============================================================== The bottom line is if the person finds some closure from a deceased loved one through a medium then so be it. =============================================================== What if you hated the fact that your daughter was in an abusive relationship and had told her that many times. You die of a heart attack and your daughter (who is still with her scumbag of a husband, because she thinks he will change) goes to a psychic who tells her that you want her to know that you approve of the choices she has made and you want her to know that you are proud of her. Your daughter says with her husband and one night he beats her to death. Extreme example, but similar (but less severe) situations happen every day. John Edwards is a fraud and what he is doing is flat wrong. Lying to someone is wrong, even if you are lying to make them feel good. |

I think Sylvia Brown is the best!

Spidercmb:
I certainly understand what you are saying. You will note that I gave no opinion of John Edwards as I have my own belief on him, but if you read between the lines I think you'll get it. Knoxman: Totally agree. I do the same exact thing in my show. And like Criss tell people up front it is a fake, a fraud. There are a few techniques used in cold readings that are very convincing. Of course I won't reveal them...lol. People do need to be weary of the trickery out there. I do think it is a real shame when people use it to an advantage point and that is the point I was hoping to make. I was trying to stay bias on this subject. I guess what I am really saying is that everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion and seeking the aid of a psychic or medium for them may be the right thing. For me - hardly. I need something backed with much more evidence. in fact, if it doesn't jive in my spirit forget it, but that's just me. Good conversation. Billy |

yes sweetbilly you are right. there is a lot of trickery out there. people should know that there are 2 truths out there.
and one is the truth of the truth or truth of a lie. people out there who claim "physic" powers, will tell you what you want to hear, and that is not the truth of the truth. it is in fact the truth of a lie and they rob your wallet and they are in it just for the money. |

I watch the show and have been to his signings and sessions. While I do not begin to understand how he does it he certainly connects with lots of people. If it brings them a little peace and happiness thats all that matters.
