Topic: A poem about coming out | |
---|---|
Do I dare explain, the things I feel, Can the unbelievable, ever be real? Will the risk, outweigh the reward? Can we all remain, on one accord? There is no telling, what the future holds, This life is young, as the legs of foals. In the dark, and behind closed doors, My feeling rage, and my love outpours. Once one bursts free, and then takes flight, There is no way, to avoid the light. A butterfly of beauty, cannot cocoon again, Once you are out, you cannot go back in. Does it ever look back, and yearn for the day, To again be a worm, just slinking away? It is my hope, that my wings are adored, And when I take flight, that everyone is on board. But truly I know, so many will leave, Some friends will grow cold, and inside will I grieve. But I must soldier on, must be who I am, Be true to myself, and not live a sham. Perhaps I’m not ready, the cocoon is not wrong. Emergence is eminent, no it won’t be long By: Akida D Ivory |
