I guess this qualifies as a "Current Event".

What are your opinions on the writer's strike that's going on now?

Personally, I'm not affected. The only TV I watch is news, football, and old TV shows.

I watch Myth busters and Dirty Jobs, and football...thats all the TV I watch, maybe while the writers are on strike they can come up with better TV shows and plot lines?

The writer's strike could have dire consequences. People might actually start reading books, going for walks, and talking with their neighbors. Next thing you know parents will start talking to their children if they can pry them away from the computers and IPods long enough. If that happens God alone knows where it will all end.laugh

BOOKS!? Those damnable things with words and typing and stuff!? People actually read those!?

(I currently have 7 books in my "library" here at the apartment, but I've read all my life  )

with all the crap they put on tv....they just fire the bums and find ppl who can write good stories......outside of a handful of good shows most of what they put is just pure garbage.....give them a raise when they deserve it.

Maybe they can
outsource it.

Plenty of hungry
artists in Bangalore.

whether you like the product or not....people should be compensated for their work..
The writers are on strike because they are not getting paid when their product is shown/played on the internet. or when TV shows are released on DVD.
They have created a product that is being marketed and sold, but they are only getting paid if it airs on tv...if you created a product and were only paid if that product was sold at a brick and mortar store would you be satisfied....no credit for your product if it's sold on the internet...mail order ...trade shows...international markets...?????
