I have gotten to the point now that I cannot STAND Christmas!!
I hate the crowds and the same stinking music on every station and then in the mall too {I hate the Mall and avoid at all costs} and then everyone is violent toward everyone because of that stupid toy that their BRAT of a kid wants.
Most of my cousins kids are BRATS and all the stupid kids I see are all about the toys.
When I was a kid My folks couldn't afford alot so I was happy with whatever they could give and would have been happy without anything at all.
Now I could care even less about getting anything anymore because there's nothing I even want anymore, I have everything I need or want.
I just want to skip Christmas this year, not see my family not set anything up, not do anything except relax watch movies, eat Pizza and maybe play video games a bit.
that would make me very happy, I skip every other family function, Not because I don't like my family because I do like them.
I just can't stand how commertial this whole season has become, as a matter of fact, whenever I do get married {however long that takes} my wife will have it easy because I would never expect her to by me anything EVER!!!
I do like giving people gifts though, although in the past it's been hard to do it because of finances at times and that's a whole other story in itself.
another thing is that I would never argue with her if she wanted to go see her family every year if she wanted because I would be content with anything as long as I would be with her.

Anyway let me know what you think of christmas.

i both love and hate christmas....i think its a great holiday but it is ruined by the stress of gift giving/receiving.... i enjoy giving people gifts they enjoy but its a lot of pressure to get everyone you know gifts they will actually like at the same time as 90% of the country....

I LOVE Christmas! I love decorating and I love Christmas music. I love baking gifts for people and just giving gifts in general. However, I do hate the fact that all the stores go straight from Halloween stuff to Christmas stuff--they completely skip over Thanksgiving. But my family is pretty easy to give to at Christmas. We're all really down to earth and mostly just enjoy being with each other--no matter what we get--even if we don't get anything.

I think I'll skip all holiday's unless someone can show me a real reason to, I just don't want to mess with anything anymore.
people may call me a scrooge for not liking Christmas like everyone else but I really don't care anymore...lol grumble laugh
Maybe I've become jaded or something but right now I have noone to really Celebrate with.
Every year it's kind of the same, my brother, cousin {Good cousin} and I always go over to my aunt and uncles, grab food take it into the other room and eat and play our annual game of Monopoly.laugh I'm not even kidding though it is funny to a point.
my brother is so sick of get togethers and all that, he even volenteers at christmas time for work to work late.

Christmas has gotten too commercial and with the cost of everything it is bad. Gas prices this year are going to hurt people too, raise the cost of food and everything in the stores.

I like to try to do homemade gifts as much as possible when I have the time, jams, breads, cookies and candies, etc., used to embroider things, that kind of stuff. Have two grandbabies who will get toys, but gonna be skimpy this year with the inflated costs of everything. Think we need to go back to basics, old fashioned, make gifts, enjoy the real meaning of family and getting together, not greed and who got the best and most expensive gifts, etc.

Being a single parent, who doesn't make a lot of money, I have had to find ways to make Christmas fun when it came to gift giving, and trying to bring back the meaning of it to my children. This year were making gift baskets for all who get on the list. Almost everything in the baskets will be handmade. Cookies, candy, jewelery, pot holders, puzzle books, and etc. One gift basket per family, mainly things that will be used by the entire family but some personal items. There is a flea market near by that has new products in the way of knives with pictures on them, new hats, tshirts, and so on. So some of those things will go in but the over all cost is very inexpensive, and comes out to around $20 a basket which isn't bad when you consider the gift if for at least 3 people.

I am also a single parent but I enjoy the simple things at Christmas like fami;ly,decorations and food.
I have come to also hate it though because it reminds me I am very poor and it's the rudest time of the year..frown

I don't care for Christmas anymore. I think it's because it is a family holiday. It's a point of embarassment to me that when I show up to family holidays, it's just me. My brother has his kids my sister (who is ten years younger than me) has hers, but me I just bring me.

I don't mind shopping for the kids. It always makes me smile to watch the little one's faces light up when they open gifts, but buying stuff for the adults, that sucks. They never like what you get them, half the time it ends up on the spring garage sale. Getting Mom a figurine or something is always cool, she likes those things, but everyone else just gives you the "that's nice" and that's the last you'll see of it.

The consumer driven economy that we have become in this nation dictates that Christmas will no longer be a Religious holiday. If there is a profit to be had, we'll find a way to exploit it. I'm just as guilty as the next, heck, I've already bought my annual Hallmark ornaments, but haven't put up a tree in two years. I'll put the Santa on the porch, but my "homing beacon" can be seen for 4 miles, and it really lights up the porch so I can see to put my keys in the lock. But the fun part of Christmas seems gone. Maybe it's because I have to do most of the cooking in my family.

It is not the holiday it once was... Santa Claus' toys are the celebration, as a kid, then as one grows up the standard of purchasing gifts has already been set... commercial marketing is the driver... it is a direct reflection of this country, in large part...

Capitalism at it's finest...
