EyeAmYourHost39,
People its no mystery from the beginning of music history artist use subliminal lyrics to say something without saying something. I give you another song Bob Marley's " Could It Be Love" what do you think that song was talking about? about love?, about a woman, Nope? He was talking about the elite that control music. especially when he song in the verse " Don't let them change ya'", " Don't let them re-arrange ya"......it's true. |

Remember the song " Relax" what do you think that means? sleep?, chilling, nope, the song talks about Masturbating. Yes, in that song there's a verse where Frankie goes "Relax come do it" he meant *** do it jerking. |

EyeAmYourHost39,
I Like the song "Earth Song" by Michael Jackson. I love the meaning behind it. When you see the video, he's talking about we need to change the way we are and the way we treat others and the poor animal, OMG, we really have to stop hunting animals to make jewelry. Just like the song back in the 80's " Hands Across America". Now if you under 30 years old , unless you a music buff you probably never paid attention to the real message in that song. First of all, it was genius of Quincy Jones to gather all the most popular recording artist from country, rock n roll, pop, soul/R&B, to Funk to Blues in one studio and sing about the famine in Ethiopia in the 80's and how we should work to end Ethiopian hunger. I Like the lyric " We are the world, we are ones to make a brighter day so let's start giving".....beautiful. |

Songs I like, but to this day, not sure what all the lyrics mean.
Manfred Mann's Blinded by the Light. I think it was originally a Bruce Springsteen song, but Manfred Mann's version is much better. I believe it is about finding his way in the music business and little stories along the way, but I have no idea what he's referencing through most of the song. Another one I've always liked, "Bye, Bye, Miss American Pie," by Don McLean. I've always believed it was about the death of Buddy Holly, "the day the music died," but I could be wrong. Feel free to correct me on this one, anyone. Either way, both are great classic rock and roll songs that tell a story. |

I tend to think I know what songs are about, though often I don't!
I was just reading about one of my favorite songs, "It Ends Tonight" by the All American Rejects. It seems to be about a break-up with a girl, with lines like: "Your subtleties They strangle me I can't explain myself at all And all that wants And all that needs All I don't want to need at all" Apparently it's not about a girl, but conflict with a male friend.Even more interesting than that, though, is that this song is one of All American Rejects' biggest hits and might not have been written if the band's manager hadn't pushed them to keep writing even when they thought they had enough songs for an album. Goes to show you.. sometimes the things created under pressure and deadlines can be your best work! |

I was listening to an interview with Blink 182 a few weeks ago, and that's sort of how they ended up writing "The Rock Show." When the guy wrote it, it was almost in defiance. He thought he would write a pop song and tick off their manager, but it ended up being a hit and making them a lot of money. And yes, I think we all make up our own meanings and interpretations. Kinda have to sometimes. |

JulietLe,
Hey Mommy, well some songs do have a bleek meaning. Unless someone makes it clear about linguistics and mastering music reels can also know what songs truly meaning. See when I was in my early 20's I was heavily into creating music especially hip hop then. I can write a song and to one person have a view of a song meant but as the artist I could mean it something else. They do this not just for artistic & creative but its to get you think while listen with or without vocally saying something. A lot musician sing in code because they really can't tell you the meaning but If I can write it in a song it be like technically I didn't say it but I had you to think about the words....genius huh? |
