I wasn't in band camp so no story from me.

But, any Band Camp or Retreat Stories?

I was in marching band for 3 years in high school and color guard (flag girl) for one. At that time, here... band camp was actually rather serious. Out in the sun all day, rehearsing, practicing marching and the music for the routine. We did goof around some but nothing that different from what we'd do during school.

Now band trips... that was something different. We'd take a chartered bus around the state for competitions. My sophomore year we went to Hawaii for the Hula Bowl. At that time the legal drinking age was 18. The seniors that looked 18 scored some wine coolers and we partied in our hotel rooms. And so the under-aged drinking began while I was on a school field trip! There were lots of couples that snuck around and did things their parents wouldn't approve of. I usually was too preoccupied with an older boy that didn't know I existed, or a band instructor who had the sense not to encourage that.

I do remember we laughed a lot. On the bus trips home, usually after dark, we would divide up the bus in halves (front of the bus, back of the bus) and would come up with chants to make fun of someone on either side and yell them out. Like "Breaking Good, Breaking Good you come from the hood! You look like a donkey and you play in the wrong key!"

Good times!

I propose that there be a new forum heading titled CONFESSIONS! Topics in which sharing may have a detrimental effect on your future employment and relationships!!
