There would be growing enthusiasm when, in the sekond year, it was announsed that the troublesome 'ph' would hensforth be written 'f.' This would make words like 'fotograf' twenty persent shorter to print.

In the third year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reash the the stage where more komplikated shanges are possible. Governments would ankourage the removal of double leters. whish has always been deterent to akurate speling.

We would al agre that the horible mes of the silent 'e's in the languag is disgrasful. Therfor we kould drop them and kontinu to read and writ as though nothing has hapend. By this tim it would be four years sins skem began, and peopl would be respectiv to steps. sutsh as replasing 'th' by 'z.' Perhaps zen ze funktion 'w' kould be taken on by 'v,' vitsh is, after al, half a 'w.'

I never did understand the hooked with phonics way of learning. When I tried to teach my son how to read, I was really surprized that none of the phonics really applied.

The english language is one of the hardest to learn and when you really look at it, its completely insane to expect a child or anyone for that matter to know all the "rules" . Consider the word Bear or Bare......they sound the same but have 2 entirely different meanings...and spelled 2 different ways

I know. They have all these rules, THEN they make all these exceptions to these rules. I mean what is the point of a rule if there are exceptions?

English was the second language I learned. I learned Finnish at home before I went to school. When I went to kindergarden I would escape for the first few weeks because I had no idea what these people were mumbling about. They had to lock the classroom door to kepp me there.
