Bless the Dogs and Cats

Bless the dogs and cats, God
For they somehow know,
When their demise is, and when
It is time for them to go.
When I put them in a chamber, or
Have a needle in hand,
Where does the justice lie
Where does it stand?

The sad face looking at me
As they go down to sleep,
The pain inside, the tears held back
Is something I'll always keep.
With each sad face, I will say,
I love you my furry friend,
It is not your fault, that brings
Your life to a final end.

As they die peacefully and
Go limp in my hand,
I give one last pat and a rub
As my last stand.
Then I go off and say a prayer
And drop a tear or two,
God, bless the dogs and cats not wanted
For I send them to You.

thank u i had to put my 14 year old Shepard/wolf to sleep a month ago yeaterday, she was my best friend and I miss her terribly, that made me cry!!!

Thanks MoM and hillfolk...I know it's sad but it was true then...I was sending them to God so they can run and play up there with Him.

But what a kind,gentle,loving man to hold them so they would not be alone and feel the warmth of love one more time before they go.

Yes, I was the kind loving soul that had to do it, but with love not hatred.
