Disgraced ex-Subway pitchman Jared Fogle, is working in his prison's canteen, sources said.

He’s serving subs while serving time.

Locked-up former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle has a new job in his prison’s cafeteria — and his chief duty is dishing out sandwiches to officers, sources told TMZ.

The notorious sex offender — sentenced to 15 years behind bars after he confessed to having sex with underage girls and collecting child porn — had been working in the inmate dining hall, but officials grew concerned about his safety after he was beaten up in January.

So staffers at Colorado’s Federal Correctional Institution Englewood moved him over to the employees’ lunchroom. He’s been tasked with manning the end of the cafeteria line, and his duties allegedly include serving sandwiches.

Working in the officers’ quarters is considered a promotion, since he’s dealing with higher-end food, such a steak dinners, TMZ reported. There’s no word on if Fogle gets to nosh on the quality eats he’s dishing up.

Fogle was attacked earlier this year by felon Steven Nigg, who claimed he beat up the creep “for the families” of Fogle’s victims.

Since starting his nearly prison sentence, Fogle has reportedly packed on at least 30 pounds. His prison diet is filled with sugary, fatty canteen food — and the Honey Buns he buys from the commissary haven’t helped his physique either.

The fast food icon’s downfall started when federal officials raided his suburban Indianapolis home in July and seized several computers and DVDs from the married dad.

Investigators arrived with a warrant after the former head of Fogle’s childhood obesity charity was arrested earlier this year on similar child porn charges.

Fogle later admitted he paid for sex at New York City hotels with girls who were 16 or 17 years old and that he had received some child pornography produced by the one-time head of his anti-obesity charity, Russell Taylor. Fogle also paid a total of $1.4 million to his 14 victims, with each getting $100,000.

Fogle, a weight-loss sensation on the Indiana University campus, debuted in his first commercial for Subway in 2000 after the sandwich chain caught wind of the student’s transformation. Once weighing a whopping 425 pounds with a 60-inch waist, Fogle dropped 245 pounds on a do-it-yourself diet of nothing but turkey and vegetable subs from the campus Subway.

“The Subway Guy” became a national sensation, and Fogle appeared two years ago in a Super Bowl ad marking the 15-year anniversary of his diet program.

Fogle should be in general population,
where he can be the flute player in the jailhouse band.

And there's the problem... if he's placed in Gen Pop he'll eventually be severely injured or killed by someone looking to up their status in the prison hierarchy. The prisoner's "code" places pedophiles and rapists at the bottom of the list and they are fair game for anyone. So, they are moved into Protective Custody to serve their sentence in relative safety... while their victims still suffer.

Hardly seems fair, doesn't it?

why would the guards eat something the prisoners handled? there ain't no telling what they would do to the food while serving it...

i sure as hell wouldn't eat anything the prisoners handled if i was a guard...

I wonder, when he gets let out, if his first commercial will be "subway: so fresh I can't legally touch it without violating my parole!"

That happens in every jail and prison in the country. My brothers a CO and they have inmates wash their cars(That one's always bugged me, I have always thought that cant be legal), draw them pictures, make items for the guards etc. You would be surprised at some of the stories I have heard over the years.

Jared needs to be general population
in the prison at 5th and Edmonds.
They will mess his whole day up.
