Easter festivities at the Newport Centre mall in Jersey City ground to a halt on Palm Sunday afternoon when a fistfight erupted between the shopping center's Easter bunny and the father of a child who slipped from a chair while getting her photo taken.

Onlooker Kevin Pineda captured the incident in a Twitter video.

"I was just at the mall eating on the third floor when me and a couple of friends heard commotion going on downstairs, like yelling," Pineda wrote in an email to the Washington Post, "We looked down and a woman was attacking the man in the bunny suit and then the rest is in the video."

Both the bunny and the father have been charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct. Authorities say 44-year-old Juan Jimenez-Guerrero verbally and physically attacked 22-year-old Kassim Charles, who was playing the role of the Easter bunny. That came after Jimenez-Guerrero's year-old child slipped from a chair while getting her photo taken.

Both men were taken to a hospital with minor injuries. They were being held in the county jail, and it wasn't known if either man has retained an attorney.

Authorities say both men also had outstanding warrants.

In the video is a minute-long, multi-person brawl centered around the partly-costumed Easter bunny and a man in a brown shirt. A security guard and other mall-goers try to tear the two apart, with another man in red appearing to throw a punch in the altercation and a blue-clad woman seeming to get knocked back in the tussle.

Meanwhile, a small child can be seen rushing out of the Easter set, skirting the group and darting toward a woman who quickly pulls him out of the way.

The Easter bunny is separated from the man in the brown shirt, and the Easter bunny appears to retreat while the other man is restrained. But just a few seconds later, the Easter bunny comes barreling back.

He throws off his gloves, winds up and throws a punch. Mayhem erupts once again, with both men wrestling on the floor as more security floods in.

"Oh, the Easter bunny throwing hands!" one onlooker can be heard exclaiming in the video. "Oh, he curb stomped him!"

The fight disappeared behind a pillar as more security officers appeared to quell the scene.
