nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
english translations suck.
granted i want to be a voice actor. but for american cartoons.

NO english anime voice actors.

I'm sorry, compared to what comes from Japan, American toons are just rancid.

indeed.
but i'd rather be an english voice actor for american cartoons
than a english voice actor for anime.
its just not the same.

The Japanese versions are'nt censorsed, that's a plus. English voices may have given dramas the soap opera effect, but think of the hilarity that would ensue with Japanese voice actors making things obscene on English shows.

thats why all cartoons should be in japanese with english subs.

suuuuuuuuuuuuuuure

Let's compare both of the products of each culture and how they are altered instead of simple statements.

Anime is from Japan and is generally made for the entertainment of all ages. Anime personas often have real life problems. Many Anime characters are drawn to look American. Imagine English people speaking in a high pitched whine. Your dealing with that annoyance as well as having to read words and trying to enjoy the beautifully skilled artwork at the same time. All you miss when listening to an Enlish dub, is the sometimes never ending perversion content from an uncensored society. Another great addition is in the soundtrack areas, sure Japanese music is fine, but where the art production is great, the music production is often sadly lacking. English dubs often have incredible soundtracks, adding yet another fantastic element to the mix.

American cartoons are for children. The only exceptions are those made for social deviants. Many situations the characters from American cartoons find themselves in are often very far from reality or normal life, the only exception are 'very special episodes, to fight drugs and bullys etc'. Characters are often very poorly drawn, few American artists seem to have mastered the art of drawing a complete hand, or even seen to care (it is for kids afterall). I say Japanese voice actors should voice our 'cartoons' to give us something interesting to watch. Ours toons could only get better then, and that's sad.

OMG! I remember Gravion. I don't remember if I saw it all though...but I do remember liking it =D

And in this debate I must say that Japanese with English subtitles is better. Over all I feel that the Japanese do better with matching characters to voices than Englished dubbed. For example I can't stand watching Death Note dubbed because the voices just aren't holding the same personality and emotional depth as the American voice overs. Aaaaaannnnnnddddd I usually like Japanese soundtracks and am a big fan of j-pop and j-rock and all that jazzzzz. *nods* My opinions! ^^

Yay! I've played catch up =P And I guess it's okay since I'm still not getting into Bleach anytime soon. BUUUUUUUT due to convincing of a friend I may give Naruto Shippuuden a chance, when I have the time.

I feel empty with the lack of anime I've been watching lately. I think that's why I'm depressed. But really I either don't have the time or I'm too tired *sigh*

Once school is over...oh you watch out! I'll be filling this thread with this and that and the other about different animes =P

BLEACH RULES YOU JUST DON'T KNOW IT YET! lol

Anyway, about subtitles/dubs sometimes the dub is better than the VAs in Japan (like Cowboy Bebop and Full Metal Alchemist) but then sometimes the dub is awful (Naruto, Fruits basket, bleach). I watch both to see which i like better ^.^

I watched Bleach a few times. It was pretty cool, but it's just something I didn't get into. I like shows like Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Evangelion, Azumanga Daioh, and Excel Saga. You know, shows with 26 episodes. I feel that after a series goes beyond 40 or 50 episodes it loses something. That's why I won't watch Bleach, Inuyasha, Naruto, DBZ, or anything that goes for 100+ episodes.
